Lapis Lazuli

Wisdom  ·  Truth  ·  Royalty

Lapis Lazuli is the stone of inner truth. It is for speaking honestly, thinking clearly, and carrying yourself with the quiet authority of someone who knows their own mind.

Its deep celestial blue is flecked with gold pyrite and threaded with white calcite, so each bead looks like a night sky in miniature. No stone has been prized by royalty for longer.

Available in 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm round beads. This listing is for a single bracelet.

The Stone's Story

Lapis has been treasured for over six thousand years. The Egyptians carved it into amulets and inlaid it in the burial mask of Tutankhamun, and they ground it into a sacred blue powder for ceremony. Centuries later, Renaissance painters crushed it into ultramarine, the most precious pigment in the world, reserved for the robes of saints and kings. Across every culture that held it, lapis was the stone of royalty, wisdom, and truth.

Formed Over Millions of Years

Lapis Lazuli forms over millions of years when limestone is transformed by heat and pressure deep within the earth, the gold flecks within it are natural pyrite. The finest lapis has come from the mountains of Afghanistan for thousands of years, with other sources in Chile and Russia.

How to Wear & Care

Lapis is a softer stone, so handle it gently and avoid knocks against hard surfaces. To cleanse, wipe it with a soft damp cloth rather than soaking it, or rest it on a windowsill overnight. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun, which can fade the blue, and avoid harsh chemicals.
