It earns its name with tiny mineral flecks inside that catch the light and flash like sparks of copper and fire. The whole stone seems to glitter when it moves.

The Stone's Story

The Norse Vikings sailed by a stone they called sólarsteinn, the sunstone, using it to find the sun through overcast skies, and tied it to the god Odin. The Egyptians linked sunstone to Ra, their sun god, wearing it for vitality and joy. Where moonstone belongs to the inner world, sunstone has always been the stone of the outer one: action, warmth, and light.

Formed Over Millions of Years

A variety of feldspar, sunstone forms over millions of years, its glittering flecks created by tiny mineral platelets locked inside as the stone cools. It is found in India, Norway, Canada, Russia, and Oregon, where it is the state gemstone.

How to Wear & Care

Wear it daily or stack it with other stones. To cleanse, hold it under cool running water or rest it on a windowsill overnight. Avoid harsh chemicals and prolonged direct sun.

XS fits wrists under 5 inches. S fits 5 to 6 inches. M fits 6 to 7 inches. L fits 7 to 8 inches. XL fits 8 to 9 inches.
